Angolan head of state witnesses the signing of agreements with the UAE The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, arrived this morning in Abu Dhabi, for a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, producing in its first-day substantial results: four (4) memoranda of understanding were signed, giving thus a concrete boost to the cooperation relationship between the two countries.
Alongside Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, João Lourenço, witnessed the signing of legal instruments that were being negotiated in recent days by a ministerial team which travelled to Abu Dhabi for that purpose, including notably, a memorandum that will allow the expansion of the digital transformation program in Angola, another that will strengthen cooperation in the Transport sector, another one to facilitate the implementation of a solar energy and energy storage program and a last one – the fourth – which opens space for cooperation and exploration of opportunities in the most varied sectors of the Angolan economy. All the documents were signed by the Angolan External Relations Minister, Téte António, while Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, signed on the Emirates side.
After the first day, President João Lourenço prepares for a long journey of hearings this Tuesday (21), during which he will receive relevant businessmen and leaders of companies and economic groups with a remarkable contribution to the robust Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of this country, one of the most prosperous in the Middle East and the world.
On Wednesday, the third and last day of the mission, the Angolan Head of State will devote long hours to the world exhibition EXPO 2020 DUBAI to honour the day reserved for the Republic of Angola. In addition to visiting the Angola Pavilion and other parts of the gigantic showcase of modernity. President João Lourenço is expected to speak at the venue and attend a show with the participation of renowned Angolan musicians: Yola Semedo, Nanutu and Daniel Nascimento, among others.
